    From gym obsessive to app builder

    I started training at 18. Not an athlete, no great genetics, no coach to guide me. Just a clear feeling that I wanted to actually get strong — and that it would require more than just showing up to the gym.

    For years I trained consistently but results were slow. I hit that frustrating plateau that so many people know: training hard, sleeping well, but my body just not changing the way I expected. I spent hours reading articles, forums, and Reddit threads looking for the answer. Tried every program type, changed splits, adjusted weights.

    Until one day it clicked: the problem was not the training. The problem was food. I was not giving my body the fuel it needed to grow. Without enough protein and the right calories, the gym was only half the equation.

    And that was not just my problem. As a personal trainer, I saw the same thing repeatedly: clients who paid for memberships, who followed their routines to the letter, who never missed a session — and still did not lose weight or build muscle. Because nutrition is 80% of the result, and nobody was teaching them to manage it.

    First Steps in the Gym

    At 18, I walked into a gym for the first time. I had no plan, no coach, and no idea what I was doing — just a stubborn determination to get stronger.

    Training in India

    I worked abroad in India for a year. Training in local gyms there — basic equipment, intense heat, zero excuses — taught me that consistency matters infinitely more than perfect conditions.

    Japan and the Discipline Lesson

    A project took me to Japan. I trained in compact Tokyo gyms at 6 AM before long workdays. Japanese culture's relationship with discipline fundamentally changed how I approached both work and fitness.

    Personal Trainer Certification

    I became a certified personal trainer and worked with clients in several cities. That experience showed me the real problem: clients who trained hard but never hit their goals — almost always because of nutrition, not training.

    The Moment Everything Clicked

    I was paying for two app subscriptions — one for workout tracking, one for nutrition. As a software developer I thought: why does this have to be two separate things? Why is nobody building a proper all-in-one?

    I built the app I had always wanted. PonteFuerteAI: AI-powered workout tracking + nutrition with photo logging, all in one place. Free. Because access to good tools should not depend on your wallet.

    The two-app problem

    In 2021 I was personally paying for two separate subscriptions: one app to track my workouts and the weights I lifted, and another to track diet and calories. Two apps open simultaneously on my phone, two monthly payments, two different user experiences.

    As a software developer, that seemed absurd to me. Training and nutrition are not two separate things — they are two sides of the same process. Why do you need two apps for something that should be one?

    I went looking for a solution that integrated both well. I did not find one that did both at the right level. So I did what developers do when they cannot find the tool they are looking for: I built it myself.
